30 MARCH, 2022 - SHANK MEDIA, BY MATT HOOPER: The University of St Andrews arranged a rally, march and show of solidarity this evening called 'St Andrews stands with Ukraine'. Despite the very changeable weather throughout the day, and a cold breeze, the turnout was truly phenomenal as students, University staff and members of the North East Fife community came together to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
The event opened with an address from the University Chaplain followed by speeches from 3 University of St Andrews students from Ukraine. Then a lone piper led those who had gathered from Lower College Lawn down The Scores to West Sands, and the City of St Andrews Pipe Band played before those who had attended lined up to create a chain of people down at least half the length of the entire beach.
