10 NOVEMBER, 2023 - SHANK, BY MATT HOOPER: St Andrews' John Paterson is a step closer to playing full time on the Alps Golf Tour after a second round of 71 saw him tie for medallist honours at Terre dei Consoli GC in Italy.
John made 5 birdies and 2 double-bogeys in his second round, finishing at 6-under-par for the two rounds. The Qualifying Mark is +3 with Lee Westwood's son, Sam, also making the cut, finishing in a tie for 8th. The 22-year-old son of the former World Number One, and LIV Golfer, shot 2-under-par for the two rounds.
The Englishman shot a second round of 64 to surge into the top 10, securing his place in the finals.
Scotland's Rory Franssen also qualified for the final stage of Alps Golf Tour Qualifying School, finishing tied for 8th alongside Westwood. Franssen won the Tartan Tour event at the Fairmont St Andrews earlier this year.
The Final Stage of Alps Golf Tour Qualifying School will take place next week, 15-17 November over 54 holes, at Golf Nazionale in Rome. The course hosted the first two days of the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup.
