25 OCTOBER, 2023 - DP WORLD TOUR: Ewen Ferguson is relishing the opportunity to defend his Commercial Bank Qatar Masters title as he returns to Doha Golf Club this week.

The Scotsman claimed his maiden DP World Tour title in style at this venue last year, finishing eagle-par-birdie as he won by one stroke from American Chase Hanna.

Later that year he became the first Scottish player since Paul Lawrie in 2012 to win more than once in the same season on the DP World Tour as he won the ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics.

He will tee it up in Qatar in the company of nine-time DP World Tour winner Pablo Larrazábal and Germany’s Yannik Paul, who also claimed his maiden victory on Tour in 2022.
FERGUSON SPOKE TO THE MEDIA AHEAD OF THE TOURNAMENT BEGINNING: “Lots (of memories). From when I got to my hotel room last night, I remember on the Sunday evening not sleeping a wink. I was just sat at the desk all night. I couldn’t believe it. Same hotel this week and coming back to the course, seeing my name and pictures of me with the trophy is really cool. Quite emotional and hopefully I can play really well this week and have a chance to defend it.

“I remember with three holes to play thinking ‘I’m in the top five here, it’s a good chance to keep my card early in the season’. Then I hit it over the back on the short par four 16th and chipped in, tied for the lead, then holed that putt at the end. It was incredible. That’s what it takes when you win tournaments. You notice every week when someone wins there’s always something special that happens. That moment on 16 and the putt on the last were my moments."

Victorious Ryder Cup player Robert MacIntyre adds to a strong field this week, which also includes Antoine Rozner, Jorge Campillo and Eddie Pepperell, who won this tournament in 2021, 2020 and 2018 respectively.

The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is the final counting event on the 2023 Race to Dubai, giving members a final opportunity to secure their card for the 2024 season. The Top 116 on the Race to Dubai Rankings in partnership with Rolex will earn playing privileges for next year. John Axelsen of Denmark currently occupies the 116th and final place.
