30 SEPTEMBER, 2022 - DP WORLD TOUR: Richard Mansell posted an excellent four under par round of 68 on the Old Course at St Andrews to move to the top of the leaderboard following a day when torrential rain and strong winds descended on the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

There were shotgun starts at all three venues – St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns – due to the forecasted bad weather on a day when only nine players broke par across all three courses.

Of those nine, Mansell was the only player to card an under par round at the Old Course, reaching double figures after the first two rounds on a ten under par total.

Starting on the sixth, he made two early birdies before reaching the traditional turn, which was followed by two further gains in his next three holes to move to four under through seven holes. His only dropped shot of the day arrived at the 16th, before finishing with a final birdie at the par five fifth to claim the 36-hole lead for the first time in his DP World Tour career.

The 27-year-old is two strokes clear of Sweden’s Alex Noren following his three under par effort at Kingsbarns, while third place is shared on seven under by Denmark’s Niklas Nørgaard Møller and Frenchman Antoine Rozner who posted two over par rounds of 74 at St Andrews and Carnoustie, respectively.

Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre leads the home charge in fifth place on six under par following a two under 70 at Kingsbarns.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship brings together some of the world’s best golfers with amateurs including celebrities from the worlds of sport, music and film, playing in an individual and team competition across three world-class links courses.

Johannes Veerman and his amateur partner Will Ahmed share the lead in the team competition with South Africa’s Christiaan Burke and his partner Bruce Mitchell on 19 under par. Veerman, of the United States, and Ahmed posted a collective seven under 65 on the Old Course, while Burke and Mitchell added a 66 at Carnoustie to their overnight total.

Saturday’s third round will be a two-tee start from 9:00am local time at all three courses, with leader Mansell set to take on Carnoustie.
